Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea: Aubameyang brace gives Gunners FA Cup

An empty Wembley stadium will play host for this year’s FA Cup final as Arsenal and Chelsea battle for silverware, London supremacy and - in the Gunner’s case – European football.

It would not be an understatement to say that this has been a disappointing season for Arsenal.

Missing out on the top four would normally be a good reason for fans to feel frustrated however, finishing eighth and missing out on Europa League is simply a catastrophe for the Gunners.

Despite this, a lot could change this Saturday should Mikel Arteta’s men lift the FA Cup for a record 14th time. A win would not only secure some silverware for the Gunners but it would also guarantee them Europa League football.

Looking at the betting, we can see that the bookmakers are behind Chelsea having priced them as favourites at 23/20. Arsenal meanwhile, are available at 23/10.

It’s not that long ago since we have seen both these clubs compete in a cup final. One year ago, the two sides met in the Europa League showpiece which was decisively won 4-1 by Chelsea.

The Blues have done well against their London rivals in recent years. Frank Lampard's men have won three from their last five head to head encounters. Their last game, however, ended in a 2-2 draw as a ten-man Arsenal rescued a point in the final minutes.

With both teams in similar form and both needing to win this final we could be in for another close game.

Arsenal have won three of their last four games which includes victories over Liverpool and Manchester City. Chelsea have also picked up three wins from their last five games and their run also includes impressive wins over Manchester United and Wolves.

Frank Lampard would love to win his first piece of silverware as a Chelsea manager - to do it against Arsenal would make it even sweeter - however, it’s the Gunners who have more to lose here with European football at stake.

With that in mind, our recommendation is to back the North London side at the price of 23/10.
