Arsenal suffered a damaging 2-0 defeat against Leicester as the Gunners lost more ground on the Premier League top four.

Jamie Vardy opened the scoring for the Foxes with just over 20 minutes remaining, tucking Youri Tielemans’ cross beyond Bernd Leno.

And James Maddison made the points safe, firing home a fierce drive from the edge of the area to temporarily move Leicester up to second in the table ahead of Manchester City's clash with Liverpool.

Express Sport have rated how the Arsenal players performed against Leicester, but do you agree?

Arsenal player ratings vs Leicester City – Premier League

GK: Bernd Leno – 6

Solid handling in the first half as Leicester pressed, but couldn’t get across in time to deny Vardy the opener.

Stood up tall to block the England striker's effort shortly after but, was unsighted for Maddison’s drive.

RWB: Hector Bellerin – 6

Got forward at every opportunity and provided some dangerous deliveries into the box.

Sent one drive whistling just over the bar but failed to prevent his side falling apart in the closing stages.

RCB: Calum Chambers – 7

One of Arsenal’s better performers, making a number of key defensive contributions including taking the ball of Vardy’s toe at the back post.

Was also tidy in possesion and looked the most accomplished of the Gunners back three.

CB: David Luiz – 4

Guilty of giving the ball away on numerous occasions in the first half.

Improved slightly after the break but couldn’t handle Vardy.

LCB: Rob Holding – 3

Caught meandering in possession and looked vulnerable to Leicester’s free-flowing attack.

Sacrificed for Pepe after the second goal went in but will have been glad to call time on a tough evening.

LWB: Sead Kolasinac – 5

Was unable to get forward due to Leicester’s intense press but did make some key recovery challenges.

CM: Lucas Torreira – 4

Given a chance to stake his claim due to Granit Xhaka’s omission but was poor, going to ground too easily and giving away needless free-kicks.

Wasn’t able to gain a foothold in midfield and was something of a passenger before his withdrawal.

CM: Matteo Guendouzi – 7

More positive than his team-mates, driving forward with the ball and throwing himself into challenges as he looked to spark Arsenal into life.

Still inexperienced and prone to reckless decisions, but much better than most.

CAM: Mesut Ozil – 5

A frustrating performance from Ozil, who was not able to show his languid skills often enough.

Careless on the ball and ultimately failed to unpick the Leicester defence.

ST: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 5

The switch to two strikers appeared to hamper his natural game, with Aubameyang too often operating far from the penalty area.

Tucked one chance away but it was ruled out for offside.

ST: Alexandre Lacazette – 6

Hustled and bustled with great endeavour and never gave up running, but cut a frustrated figure by the end of the game as he was starved of service.

SUB: Nicolas Pepe (on for Holding, 77 mins) – 4

Did little except get involved in a bust-up with Ben Chilwell.

SUB: Joe Willock (on for Torreira, 80 mins) – N/A

The game had already moved beyond Arsenal by the time he was introduced.
