Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dropped the FA Cup after inspiring Arsenal to beat Chelsea in the final at Wembley.

The Gabonese forward scored a brace as the Gunners battled back from a goal down to beat their fellow Londoners in the behind closed doors clash, which began with Christian Pulisic opening the scoring for the Blues.

Aubameyang both won and converted a penalty to equalise in the first half, before an expertly-taken winner midway through the second period.

The Arsenal captain then spoke to BBC Sport alongside a tearful Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

"Big respect for this man [Martinez]," he said.

"We enjoyed toay. We are so happy. As you can see, Emi is crying. That shows, that winning this game and this trophy makes us so happy.

"We deserved this win. He [Mikel Arteta] did a great job and we are so happy to have him on board."

After the interview Aubameyang was then required to pick up the FA Cup before carrying it to his teammates to celebrate together amid social distancing regulations.

The forward grabbed both the cup and base, but then dropped it to the floor as he celebrated.

Defender Rob Holding saw the funny side, telling BBC Sport: "I saw him walking with the bottom bit attached and I was like 'you need to take that off!' It seems the trend now anyway for people to drop the trophy!"

The defender - who was in the Gunners side that won the cup against Chelsea in 2017 - added: "It took us a while to get used to how they were playing but once we got settled we grew into the first half and then Aubameyang seems to do it on the break every game. He is a our talisman and has done it all season.

"14 FA Cups is crazy. It's my second in four years! I saw on Twitter all the Arsenal fans setting up so as long as they enjoyed it...

"I was in the bottom corner and I could hear Ian Wright shouting from the studio!"
