Manchester City suffered their first Premier League of the season as they were beaten 2-0 by a clinical Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

City lost both Leroy Sane and David Silva to injury in the second period , and with Chelsea stepping things up, David Luiz headed in a corner to double the lead.

Having been knocked off the top of the table by Liverpool following the Reds' 4-0 win at Bournemouth earlier in the day , City were unable to turn first half possession into goals, and fell behind to N'Golo Kante's fine strike right on half-time.

Welcome to the latest edition of the David Luiz sideshow.

Both sides have spent so much money, but more may be needed soon.

Pep Guardiola's side were unable to muster a response, and lost in the Premier League for the first time since April.

Liverpool - who we've consistently heard aren't at their best this season - suddenly look much fitter than a City outfit who lost Sane and Silva in the second half.
