Maurizio Sarri will have almost certainly have said his goodbyes to those he’s worked with at Chelsea for the one season he spent at the club, with breaking news late on Thursday that terms have been agreed to take the manager to Juventus.

Massimiliano Allegri’s exit from Juventus had been on the cards for a while, but there would have been few, just a matter of weeks ago, that would have predicted Maurizio Sarri to be his successor.

However, BBC Sport reported on Thursday night that Chelsea and Juventus had agreed a compensation package for Maurizio Sarri – with the Blues recouping in excess of £5 million.

The 60-year-old Italian lifted his first career silverware by winning the Europa League, in what has turned out to be his last game with Chelsea, while also finishing third in the Premier League and being runners-up in the League Cup.

Juventus could unveil Maurizio Sarri as manager in some form on Friday, with talks believed to have reached a positive conclusion on Thursday between officials in London.

The attention at Stamford Bridge will now turn to who will replace Maurizio Sarri as Chelsea manager – Frank Lampard is being heavily tipped to take the post, but will have to do so without Eden Hazard and a likely two-window transfer ban.
