Juve Sporting Director Fabio Paratici is said to have used his good relationship with Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia to get the deal tied up, after travelling to London for talks.

Chelsea are said to have not wanted to stand in the way of Sarri leaving for Italy, but requested time to line up a replacement for the position.

Sportsmail understands Chelsea will receive around £5million plus in compensation from the Serie A champions.

Things are now expected to progress rapidly, with Sarri set to agree his release with the Blues before the weekend and then travel to Turin.

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has emerged as the frontrunner to take over from Sarri

Frank Lampard is among the favourites to take over at Chelsea, after former Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri ruled himself out of the running.

On Thursday night Allegri said: 'I am going to take a year off to recharge the batteries and take my personal life back in hand, rediscover after many years the affection of my family, children and friends.

'The last 16 years have felt like being in a blender. You have to take time away from what you usually spend with family and friends.

'I'll use this year to recharge my batteries ahead of the next season.'
