Chelsea boss Sarri will be unable to sign players this transfer window with the club currently banned from adding to their squad.

The west London giants have been slapped with the sanction by FIFA and, as things stand, are trying to get it overturned.

Chelsea have appealed the ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and may get a verdict before their Europa League final showdown with Arsenal on May 29.

The Premier League transfer window is currently open and Sarri is working with one arm tied behind his back.

Despite that, though, Goal claim that the Italian could yet sign two players this summer.

And those are Gonzalo Higuain and Mateo Kovacic.

Higuain has been a big Chelsea flop since arriving from AC Milan back in the summer, scoring just five goals from 14 matches.

There are said to be concerns over the Argentina international’s form but, despite that, Sarri wants him on board.

Regarding Kovacic, meanwhile, and Sarri reportedly wants the Croatia international at Stamford Bridge next season.

The loan star impressed upon joining from Real Madrid and could improve further with a year of Premier League football already under his belt.

Goal say Chelsea are already exploring a deal for the star and a fee could be agreed to convert his loan into a permanent deal.

Sarri’s side would then not need to re-register the player on the electronic TMS system.

Meanwhile, the Chelsea boss last month suggested Higuain would thrive should he stay in west London.

“Yes of course, but it depends on the club, it depends on Juventus,” he said when asked if he wants him to stay.

“It's not clear the situation at the moment.

“I think he has to improve. He has to improve physically, mentally, but I think also he will be able to be very useful for us in the last part of the season.

“You know very well that it's not easy in the first months to play in the Premier League.

“It was a problem also for Luis Suarez in the first season at Liverpool. He scored only four goals.

“In the second season he scored 17 goals, so it's not easy, especially for a striker, to play immediately well in the Premier League.

“I think he needs time to improve his physical condition and time to be suitable for the Premier League. I think he is able to do it.”
