Chelsea's deal to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax has got supporters talking on social media.

The Blues announced on Thursday that the Morocco international will move to Stamford Bridge on July 1, 2020, after finishing the season with the Eredivisie champions.

In a statement on their official website, Chelsea wrote: "Chelsea Football Club has reached an agreement with Ajax to sign Hakim Ziyech this summer.

"The move is subject to the player agreeing personal terms and he will remain at the Dutch club for the rest of this season."

Ziyech has enjoyed a spectacular season with Ajax again this season, scoring six goals and contributing 12 assists in 18 Eredivisie matches, along with three goals in the Champions League.

The signing of the highly-rated playmaker is considered to be a real coup for the Blues, given the moderate fee they will pay to the Dutch club.

Frank Lampard's side have agreed a deal worth £33.4million excluding add-ons for the Ajax midfielder, which compares favourably to fees paid by rival Premier League clubs.

Across London, Arsenal paid a club record £80million for Nicolas Pepe in the summer, but the Ivorian winger has struggled to live up to his price tag, only scoring three league goals.

Newcastle United signed striker Joelinton from Hoffenheim for £40million, but the Brazilian has netted one goal in 25 games.

With that in mind, some Chelsea supporters took to social media to praise the Blues' deal to sign Ziyech and made a point of his price, including a dig at Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes.

In an Instagram post, Ziyech reiterated his commitment to Ajax despite his forthcoming move to west London.

"Happy to be fit again so I can enjoy these last months on the pitch, where I belong," he wrote.

"Received a lot of warm and positive messages during my absence and I hope to create just a few more beautiful memories than we already have. Very happy with my next step, but first I have some unfinished business to handle."
