Chelsea have been handed a major boost in their hopes of signing Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho in the upcoming transfer window.

The Blues, who travel to the London Stadium to face relegation-threatened West Ham United on Wednesday evening, have been long-term admirers of the England international alongside Manchester United.

Both clubs have been keeping a close eye on his progress in Germany in the hope that they could seal a deal to land his signature in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Chelsea, though, have appeared to lose interest in Sancho over the past few weeks, with the Blues looking to prioritise deals for Ben Chilwell from Leicester City and Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz.

However, that could now be set to change.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Manchester United, who will face Chelsea in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley, have made the decision that they will not be willing to pay more than £50million to land the 20-year-old.

According to the report, senior Old Trafford officials have admitted that they will not be willing to pay more than £50million because they insist that Dortmund's valuation of the winger, which is believed to be around the £120million mark, does not reflect the financial impact football has faced as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Therefore, United will not be willing to continue their hunt for the former Manchester City youngster unless Dortmund reduce their valuation to suit the Red Devils' needs.

This could mean that Chelsea reignite their strong interest to land the winger again, as they are clearly in the mood to splash the cash this summer, with head coach Frank Lampard desperate to bridge the gap between Chelsea and the Premier League's title challengers, such as Liverpool and Manchester City.

Sancho enjoyed a superb 2019/20 campaign for Dortmund, netting 17 goals and registering 16 assists in the Bundesliga alone.
