Chelsea 'ready to break transfer record to sign Jadon Sancho' and believe friendship with Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi will help them sign £100m-rated winger

Chelsea are prepared to set a new transfer record in order to bring England international Jadon Sancho to the club from German side Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea's current record is the £72million they spent to sign goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao but they are prepared to go beyond that to sign Sancho. Sportsmail believes Dortmund would want around £100m to sell Sancho.

And according to Goal, Chelsea are confident of getting his signature because of his relationship with Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Chelsea are reportedly confident of signing Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho

Sancho has become unsettled this season with German giants Borussia Dortmund

Sportsmail reported back in November that Liverpool had joined the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in holding an interest in the attacker.

Sancho, who joined Dortmund from Manchester City in August 2017, is believed to be ready to return to England.

He has been unsettled after being singled out by the German club on more than one instant.

He was fined £86,000 and dropped for their important league game against Borussia Monchengladbach last month after returning late following international duty, a punishment he is believed to have accepted.

But he was then also forced to report for extra training alone and on the end of stinging criticism from sporting director Michael Zorc, who went public after manager Favre initially declared the matter would 'stay internal.'

Sancho was substituted just 36 minutes into Dortmund's clash against big rivals Bayern Munich, which they went on to lose 4-0.

Sancho scored an impressive goal for Dortmund in a 3-1 defeat against Barcelona last week

And Sancho was dropped for the club's Champions League match away to Barcelona after reportedly turning up late to a team meeting. He came off the bench and scored in the 3-1 defeat.

Chelsea are currently serving a transfer ban that lasts until the summer 2020 window but have taken an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for sport.

They expect to have a verdict before the start of the January transfer window.
