Chelsea are apparently poised to move for Kai Havertz after Bayer Leverkusen missed out on the Champions League places, finishing fifth in the table behind Borussia Monchengladbach.

Frank Lampard has captured two of his targets as Ajax ace Hakim Ziyech and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner officially became Chelsea players today.

Chelsea have been keeping a close eye on Havertz and he may be available at a discounted price because of Leverkusen's final league positioning.

The Telegraph claim Chelsea are poised to make an opening bid for Havertz as Lampard continues to act decisively in the market.

Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller wants to keep Havertz at the BayArena but acknowledges it may be difficult.

Leverkusen manager Peter Bosz has hinted that he may not have Havertz available for the Europa League in August.

"That will include the German Cup final next month and the next Europa League game against Rangers in August."
