Chelsea transfer target Timo Werner has claimed “the Premier League is simply the most interesting” in the world but insists he will remain at RB Leipzig until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old Germany international has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 23 goals in 25 games in all competitions, with Leipzig currently top of the Bundesliga table and through to the last-16 of the Champions League.

Both Chelsea and Real Madrid are thought to have expressed an interest in signing the striker this summer, who hopes to lead Germany’s line at the Euros before making any permanent decision.

“The Premier League is certainly the most interesting league, you have to say,” Werner told Bild.

“There is a certain flair to watching the English league and playing there.” However, he pointed out that a number of past Germany internationals have been “very successful in Spain, such as Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil”.
