Christian Pulisic: How Borussia Dortmund ace will fit into Chelsea starting XI – No Hazard

Christian Pulisic will head to Chelsea at the end of the 2018/19 season after sealing a £57.5million move from Borussia Dortmund in January.

The US winger immediately rejoined the German outfit on loan until the end of the current campaign but is set for a switch to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Dortmund are currently five points clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga, although Pulisic’s involvement has been limited due to the form of Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus and Mario Gotze.

Chelsea are thought to have moved for the 20-year-old in anticipation of losing Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, with the Belgian having been consistently courted by the La Liga giants over the past few seasons.

The pressure will be on Pulisic to provide a creative spark for the Blues if Hazard departs, although the American prefers to operate off the right flank.

Therefore, Willian is currently first in line to take Hazard’s spot although Pedro and Callum Hudson-Odoi are also in contention to stake a regular first-team place.

Meanwhile, Chelsea bagged Gonzalo Higuain on loan in January and have an option to buy the Juventus striker outright at the end of the season.

With Olivier Giroud struggling for goals and Alvaro Morata shipped out to Atletico Madrid, a deal for the Argentine is expected in order to secure his services for the 2019/20 campaign.

Maurizio Sarri is also said to be keen on making Mateo Kovacic’s loan move from Real Madrid permanent, although it remains to be seen if the manager will still be at the club to push through a deal.

Jorginho has come under fire for some ineffective displays at the base of the midfield but is expected to continue in the current system after failed bids for Nicolo Barella and Leandro Paredes in January.

Finally, the back four and goalkeeper are settled despite recent poor results and should head into the new season unchanged.

Pulisic will hope the Blues’ fortunes turn before the start of the next campaign, with the American ace expected to join his new team-mates for a full pre-season schedule.

Chelsea predicted line-up in 2019/20

(4-3-3): Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso; Jorginho, Kante, Kovacic; Pulisic, Willian, Higuain
