Emerson Palmieri is on the verge of leaving Chelsea as he is unhappy with Frank Lampard's 'controlling' style of management, according to reports in Italy.

The full-back has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge since Lampard took charge and has failed to make Chelsea's last two match-day squads in the Premier League.

Tuttosport claim Emerson is fed up with Lampard's way of running rule over his squad, considering him a 'sergeant' and too controlling.

Chelsea are prepared to let Emerson leave in the next transfer window, with the expectation another left-back will be signed.

Emerson, 25, could fetch as much as £28m and it appears his international career might hinge on his exit from Chelsea.

Having started just 13 times for Chelsea in the league this season, Italy coach Roberto Mancini urged Emerson to return to Serie A. 'As for the full-backs, we knew Adam Masina, although he disappeared from the radar a bit after his move to Watford,' Mancini told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Whatever happens with Emerson's future, his plans to leave Chelsea are set to be affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
