Two former Chelsea youth-team players have claimed they were subjected to racist abuse by the club’s former assistant manager Gwyn Williams.

One of the players said: “I haven’t heard anything from anybody [at Chelsea].” Both players also said they had heard former Chelsea coach Graham Rix use racist language.

It is claimed by one of the former Chelsea youth players that as a 12-year-old schoolboy Williams mocked him for having “big lips”, asked him if he had been “robbing old grannies” and made a racially charged comment about the size of his penis.

A spokesman added: “We are doing, and will continue to do, everything we can to ensure that those boys, girls, men and women who play for this club — and indeed anyone who works for or with the club — will never have to endure the terrible experiences which these young players suffered.” Neither of the two former Chelsea youth players making the latest allegations gave evidence to the inquiry.

Rix denies allegations of racism and bullying.

I was 12 years old.” A second player said Williams regularly referred to him using racist language.

They made the allegations on the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme and one of players said: “It was just a barrage of racism.
