Frank Lampard insists Chelsea have not made a move to sign Angel Gomes from Manchester United.

The 19-year-old’s contract with United expires on Tuesday and the midfielder is set to leave Old Trafford after rejecting their offers of a new deal.

Gomes, who has made just six appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season, is understood to have concerns over the amount of playing time he will get should he sign a new deal with United.

On Monday, reports claimed that Chelsea have submitted a contract offer to Gomes, although the midfielder has attracted interest from clubs inGermany, Spain and Italy.

But when asked directly about Chelsea’s link with Gomes, Lampard replied: ‘Yeah, I can elaborate to the point where it’s never been mentioned my end, so that’s it.’

Lampard also dismissed Chelsea’s link with West Ham’s Declan Rice.

‘Declan Rice is a good player, you’re right,’ said the Chelsea manager.

‘I’ve known Declan Rice for a long time, he was at Chelsea’s academy. But there’s no talk. I keep saying that about every player we’ll be asked about until these games are finished, there’s nothing to say.’

Meanwhile, Solskjaer remains hopeful that a deal between United and Gomes can still be agreed.

‘Well, you can ask Angel why he’s not signed,’ Solskjaer said.

‘He’s not signed yet, there’s still [time]… I don’t know where [or] what the talks are behind the scenes.
