Frank Lampard will face a "completely different" type of pressure with his new Chelsea signings after being praised for being "forced" to play his academy players this season, believes Darren Bent.

The former Blues midfielder has enjoyed a largely successful debut season in charge, securing Champions League football while taking Chelsea to the FA Cup final.

The 42-year-old did so without former talisman Eden Hazard, who left for Real Madrid in the summer, with Chelsea unable to replace the Belgian due to their two-window transfer ban - which was eventually reduced to one window.

Saturday's loss to Arsenal placed a slight dampener on the campaign, however, with Chelsea also finishing with fewer points and one place lower in the Premier League table (fourth) than Maurizio Sarri achieved last season.

But Chelsea have already been busy in the market, securing both Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech with Kai Havertz also on Lampard's radar.

And while Bent believes that Lampard has received widespread praise for his use of youth players throughout his debut campaign, he questions whether that will remain the case next season."A lot of people this season have lauded Frank Lampard for the job he's done, bringing through some of the youngsters," Bent said on talkSPORT. "I think he's had about eight academy graduates. In Pictures | Arsenal vs Chelsea, FA Cup Final 2020 1/63 POOL/AFP via Getty Images 2/63 POOL/AFP via Getty Images 3/63 PA 4/63 POOL/AFP via Getty Images 5/63 Getty Images 6/63 PA 7/63 Pool via REUTERS 8/63 Getty Images 9/63 Pool via REUTERS 10/63 Getty Images 11/63 Pool via REUTERS 12/63 POOL/AFP via Getty Images 13/63 AP 14/63 Getty Images 15/63 AP 16/63 Action Images via Reuters 17/63 AP 18/63 PA 19/63 POOL/AFP via Getty Images 20/63 Pool via REUTERS 21/63 Pool via REUTERS 22/63 AP 23/63 AP 24/63 Pool via REUTERS 25/63 Getty Images 26/63 POOL/AFP via Getty Images 27/63 AP 28/63 Action Images via Reuters 29/63 PA 30/63 PA 31/63 Getty Images 32/63 Pool via REUTERS 33/63 Getty Images 34/63 Getty Images 35/63 Getty Images 36/63 Getty Images 37/63 AP 38/63 POOL/AFP via Getty Images 39/63 AP 40/63 Action Images via Reuters 41/63 Getty Images 42/63 PA 43/63 Getty Images 44/63 POOL/AFP via Getty Images 45/63 Pool via REUTERS 46/63 Getty Images 47/63 PA 48/63 Getty Images 49/63 PA 50/63 Getty Images 51/63 Getty Images 52/63 Arsenal FC via Getty Images 53/63 Arsenal FC via Getty Images 54/63 Getty Images 55/63 Arsenal FC via Getty Images 56/63 Arsenal FC via Getty Images 57/63 Action Images via Reuters 58/63 Arsenal FC via Getty Images 59/63 Arsenal FC via Getty Images 60/63 Arsenal FC via Getty Images 61/63 Arsenal FC via Getty Images 62/63 AP 63/63 PA "But remember, he was forced to do this. I think, at times, people have made a lot of excuses for him, saying: 'Look at the job he's done because he couldn't buy any players, they've had to use youth players'."To be fair, he's given them an opportunity and they've taken them.
