RB Leipzig will launch a bid for Tammy Abraham if Aston Villa miss out on promotion to the Premier League, it is claimed.

Abraham has enjoyed a prolific season on loan at Villa from Chelsea, scoring 26 goals en route to the Villains booking their place in the play-off final. And the striker’s future could hinge on whether or not they beat Derby County in the Wembley showdown.

According to The Sun, Villa are confident of making their signing of Abraham permanent if they are victorious, as the player would be guaranteed regular Premier League football. However, the report claims that Bundesliga side Leipzig are waiting to pounce if Dean Smith’s side fail to secure top flight status.

The German club are readying a £25m bid to test Chelsea’s resolve, with the 21-year-old surely wanting assurances of playing time at a top level after an impressive season. Abraham is Leipzig’s top target, given that they are expected to lose current first choice striker Timo Werner – probably to Bayern Munich rather than Liverpool – and the England youngster may be tempted, having seen the rise of Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund.

However, the possibility of Abraham being recalled by Chelsea remains a plausible theory, given the transfer ban facing the Blues. Maurizio Sarri could have a shortage of strikers if Gonzalo Higuain returns to parent club Juventus, and with the club not allowed to register new players, Abraham might have found his opening to break into the first team.
