A strike partnership of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez and now they want Olivier Giroud, Ashley Young and Christian Eriksen... how Antonio Conte is using ex-Premier League talent to mount Inter Milan's Serie A title chargeInter Milan are challenging reigning champions Juventus for the Serie A titleConte bought Manchester United duo Romelu Lukaku and Alexis in the summerInter want to sign Ashley Young, Olivier Girou and Christian Eriksen this window

If anyone is going to stop Juventus' recent dominance in Italian football, then it's Antonio Conte's Inter Milan.

After spending most of the 2010s sitting in Serie A obscurity, whilst watching their Derby d'Italia rivals lift Scudetto after Scudetto in recent years, Inter are threatening to return to the big time and are acting as the Old Lady's closest title challengers in years.

Yet while head coach Conte is a Serie A winner himself as both as a player and a manager, the former Chelsea boss appears to be leaning on his experience as a Premier League coach much more than as a serial winner in Italian football.

Antonio Conte is bringing Inter Milan back to the top and is using ex-Premier League stars

That's because Conte is trying to assemble an Inter Milan side filled with ex-Premier League talent from front to back.

Inter were top of Serie A since the start of the season, before three draws in their last five league games ceded control back to Juventus in the Italian title race.

Conte's side are also showing promise in the cup competitions too. They are one of the favorites to lift the Europa League at the end of the season, while they reached the Coppa Italia quarter-finals with a 4-1 win over Cagliari this week.

Inter's front two during the Cagliari win - Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez - are familiar faces to both each other and to English audiences.

Conte has brought the best out of former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku at San Siro

While Lukaku has thrived, Alexis Sanchez has struggled for fitness and form at Inter Milan

The pair struggled at Manchester United under both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and both joined Conte's set-up in the summer attempting to seek a new lease of life in Milan.

So far, Lukaku's time at the San Siro has been nothing short of a rip-roaring success. The Belgian appears to be a completely different figure to the player who was pushed out of the door at Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old has already eclipsed last season's goal tally at United, finding the net 18 times in 25 appearances so far this campaign.

Sanchez has found his Inter Milan experience slightly more problematic. Recurring ankle injuries and the rise to form of Lautaro Martinez has seen the Chilean spend the majority of his time on the sidelines, with the former Arsenal man featuring only five times for Conte's side so far this season.

The Italian coach will be hoping for a better second-half of the season from Sanchez, but may find that Premier League reinforcements are the galvanising boost his side needs to topple Juventus at the end of the season.

Conte signed Olivier Giroud while at Chelsea and the Frenchman could seal a move this week

United's Ashley Young could also be brought in this summer to reinforce Inter's wide areas

Sanchez's competition for a striker spot in Conte's side could be made even more challenging should Olivier Giroud complete a move to the San Siro this month.

The Chelsea forward was brought to Stamford Bridge by Conte two years ago and the pair could even be reunited as quickly as this week if reports are to be believed.

Another player heavily linked with a move to Inter is Manchester United's Ashley Young.

The Englishman would be a good fit in Conte's side given the Italian's reliance on wing-backs and the 34-year-old could become the third United player to join Inter in the space of half a year.

Young's arrival in January would see him compete with Italian defender Cristiano Biraghi, who is on loan from Fiorentina, for the left wing-back role.

Inter are also believed to be in negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur for creative midfielder Christian Eriksen, whose Spurs contract expires at the end of the season.

Creative midfielder Christian Eriksen would also be a healthy addition to Conte's squad

The Serie A club have reportedly had a £10.5m bid rejected this week with Spurs looking for at least a £20 million fee to prise him away from north London.

However, Eriksen, who is also wanted by French club Paris Saint-Germain, would join a long list of midfielders looking for a starting spot in Conte's side, including exciting talents in the form of Stefano Sensi and Niccolo Barella.

If Inter weren't already performing well, then the introduction of even more Premier League steel will arguably make them even stronger.
