While the game was held behind closed doors, Wright was allowed to attend the clash between Arsenal and Chelsea in his role as a pundit for the BBC.

And the Arsenal legend couldn’t contain his joy when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulled the Gunners level in the first half after being pulled down by Cesar Azpilicueta in the box.

Aubameyang celebrates his vital equaliser for Arsenal in the FA Cup final

Only one man was happier than Aubameyang… Ian Wright!

It sparked a brilliant turnaround the Mikel Arteta’s men, who fought back after conceding an early goal in Saturday’s showpiece to win 2-1 and secure a record 14th FA Cup triumph.

Christian Pulisic had continued his rich vein of form to put Chelsea in front with only five minutes on the clock with a fine solo goal.

The early strike would have had Gooners holding their head in their hands and fearing the worst, but things soon looked brighter for Arteta’s side and Arsenal were the stronger team at the break, after captain Aubameyang kept his cool from the spot to fire his side level.

Pulisic scored his 11th goal of the season to give Chelsea an early lead at Wembley

But the Gunners captain fired his side level with a perfect finish from the spot and then scored again to seal victory for Arsenal

And Wrighty’s celebrations of that moment were caught on camera by colleague Gary Lineker.

They are among the lucky select few able to watch the match from inside Wembley Stadium, and Wrighty – who wore a bespoke brown suit complete with Arsenal lining for the game – was delighted as he pranced around their deserted media platform from the other end of the pitch.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender Ashley Cole – who won three FA Cups with the Gunners and four with the Blues – was also alongside them, and asked ahead of the game where he allegiances were lying, he admitted: ‘Blue’.

And that would explain why he didn’t look too happy as former Gunners striker Wright celebrated like a schoolboy.

Cole’s evening didn’t get any better, either, with Aubameyang scoring again in the second half to make it 2-1 to Arsenal with a sublime chipped finish.

Chelsea were then also reduced to ten men as Mateo Kovetic was sent off on 70 minutes, while both Pulisic and Cesar Azpilicueta were forced off with hamstring injuries.

Wrighty was in an even more jubilant mood after the match as he shared a video on social media of his celebrations.

Cole was in the background, but was taking Wright’s mocking in good spirits.
