Lampard was appointed Chelsea boss at the beginning of the month following weeks of speculation that he was going to take the helm at Stamford Bridge.

On Saturday, Mourinho was spotted at Silverstone where he watched the British Grand Prix qualifying results play out.

While in attendance, Sky Sports caught up with Mourinho and took the time to ask the former Real Madrid manager what he thought of Lampard's appointment at Chelsea.

Lampard won two Premier League titles under Mourinho at Chelsea before returning in 2014 once the midfielder had left for Manchester City.

Last season when Mourinho was in charge of United and Lampard was Derby boss, the two sides drew each other in the Carabao Cup and it was protege Lampard who came out on top.

Since taking over as Chelsea manager, the 40-year-old has managed a draw and a win in pre-season against Bohemians and St Patrick's Athletic, respectively.

Mourinho has been linked with moves to Benfica and Newcastle while he's also reportedly been the subject of a lucrative offer from a team in the Chinese Super League.
