Leicester are reportedly eyeing up Manchester United's out of favour full-back Luke Shaw as a long-term replacement for Ben Chilwell.

Chilwell, 23, has become one of the country's best defenders during recent seasons at the King Power, and has been heavily linked with a move to Frank Lampard's Chelsea.

Planning for a potential big money departure of Chilwell, Leicester will look to 24-year-old Shaw to fill the gap, according to reports.

Shaw could be arriving at the King Power stadium as replacement for Ben Chilwell

The Mirror and Leicester Mercury state the Foxes have asked the United about the England international, in order to explore the possibility of a deal.

United paid a lofty £30million fee to Southampton for Shaw in 2014, but the youngster failed to live up to the high expectations laid at his door.

A stop-start career under then manager Jose Mourinho was to follow, with Shaw experiencing dips in form along with multiple injuries.

Leicester will be expected to pay over the odds for Shaw, with United wanting to make a profit on their £30m investment.

Chelsea are reportedly willing to submit a bid in the region of £60m for Chilwell, meaning Brendan Rodgers' Leicester side will have money in the coffers.

Any prospective move however will have to wait until summer, as Rodgers has already stamped out the prospect of players leaving the club during the current January transfer window.

Speaking in late December 2019, Rodgers said during his final pre-match press conference of the year: 'There will be no-one leaving in January. Categorically.

Brendan Rodgers has said no Leicester players will be leaving the club during January

'No [I've not spoken with the board] but I'm sure if we speak that will be the case as well.

'It's pretty clear we want to keep this squad together, a very exciting team with a lot of growth and development in it, so we want to ensure they stay around beyond January.'
