Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez broke down in tears after he kept goal in the Gunners' FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.

The Argentinean - who has been on the books at the Gunners for 10 years and been loaned out by the club on six different occasions - has kept goal for Mikel Arteta's side throughout their FA Cup run.

He also took over as the No.1 in the Premier League when Bernd Leno was injured in the defeat at Brighton shortly after football's restart in June.

Martinez was interviewed by BBC Sport immediately after the match, in which Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's brace secured the Gunners' 14th FA Cup after Christian Pulisic opened the scoring for Chelsea.

The emotional goalkeeper struggled to respond to interviewer Dan Walker as he was joined by Aubameyang, saying: "I can't really talk.

"I said to him [Aubameyang] before the game, you are going to win us the game."

He then couldn't continue, and was embraced by Aubameyang.

"Big respect for this man [Martinez]," said Aubameyang.

"We enjoyed toay. We are so happy. As you can see, Emi is crying. That shows, that winning this game and this trophy makes us so happy.

"We deserved this win. He [Arteta] did a great job and we are so happy to have him on board."

Arteta also saluted his players after the match.

"It was a difficult start when we conceded so early. If I know something about these players, is that we weren't going to give up," he said.

"We played probably the best 30 minutes after since I arrived. I am so proud to represent these players and this club.

"It is a double reward for us. It is really important for this club in every way to be in Europe. We all did it so I am so happy.

"The players were completely knackered and they made a massive effort through the coronavirus to keep fit so I am so happy for them."
