Manchester United and Chelsea have been put on red alert after Barcelona made clear their desire to send Philippe Coutinho out on loan again next season.

Speaking last month, Bayern chief Karl Heinz Rummenigge told Sport Bild : "Why is it [the transfer] not decisive?

Coutinho was shipped out on loan to Bayern Munich this season but, again, has not hit the heights expected and the German giants will not take up the option to sign him permanently in the summer.

Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, have all been linked with the former Anfield hero.

Coming into the Premier League to the right team would be a saviour for him, he needs that.

The Brazilian playmaker has failed to live up to expectations at the Nou Camp since his £142million move from Liverpool in 2018.

Bayern had the option to buy Coutinho at the end of his loan spell but are choosing not to make his deal permanent.
