David Moyes has targeted an audacious loan bid for Chelsea and England midfielder Ross Barkley.

The West Ham boss wants a reunion with the schemer he nurtured at Everton after his progress through the Toffees’ youth teams.

Chelsea are so far refusing to loan Barkley with the club insistent that he remains an important part of their first-team plans.

The club are considering other targets - including 23-year-old AC Milan midfielder Frank Kessie who is considering his options - but West Ham remain open to pursuing a deal for Barkley.

Barkley started - and scored - in the 2-0 FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest on January 5.

The Republic of Ireland international, 32, was at West Ham between 2015-17, before joining Middlesbrough for £5million.

Lampard has relied mostly on a rejuvenated Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Willian and Jorginho in his Chelsea midfield this season.
