Abraham stepped up to take the decisive spot kick earlier this week after seeing four of his Chelsea team-mates successfully find the back of the net.

His weak attempt was saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian leaving Chelsea reeling after they had dominated the preceding 120 minutes of action.

Abraham acknowledged the defeat as he posted on Instagram for the first time since his penalty miss, revealing plenty of people had banded around him.

Legendary former Chelsea captain Terry responded to the post to offer his support after what was a testing moment for youngster Tammy Abraham.

Terry was not the big name to reply to Abraham's post, which featured images of Frank Lampard giving a team talk to his Chelsea squad during extra-time and Fikayo Tomori approaching the striker post-match in Istanbul.

A host of former Chelsea players, as well as stars from other clubs, also offered their support to Abraham.

Lampard refused to criticise Abraham in the wake of his penalty miss against Liverpool and instead hailed the 21-year-old for taking on the responsibility.
