Liverpool new signing Adrian has opened up on a frantic full debut for the Reds in the UEFA Super Cup, which heavily involved Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.

However, Adrian admitted post-match that he did make contact with Abraham, though the former West Ham United goalkeeper added that he thought Abraham was 'looking for' the penalty.

I'm happy for the fans.

Adrian was soon the hero though as Liverpool won the shootout thanks to Abraham's missed penalty.

The 21-year-old was the unfortunate Chelsea player to miss a key penalty in the shootout defeat to Liverpool, with Adrian making the save with his legs as the Reds prevailed 5-4, after a close-fought contest between the two Premier League rivals.

Olivier Giroud had opened the scoring for Chelsea in the first half, but two Sadio Mane goals had Liverpool 2-1 up in extra-time, only for a controversial moment to play out to allow the Blues to take it to penalties.

Abraham was adjudged to have been brought down by Adrian, with Jorginho dispatching the spot-kick to make it 2-2.
